Make it a Happy, Healthy Holiday

Here we are again – the busy holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year! And the busier we are, the harder it is to eat right and stay healthy. So, while you’re putting in longer days with all that shopping, baking, wrapping and special Christmas programs and holiday parties, I thought I’d share my secret late-night, hunger-quenching, nerve- soothing, budget-friendly, calorie-conscious Zonya Tottie! This tasty hot mug of “comfort” truly stops late-night hunger pangs in its tracks and gives back a shot of necessary nutrients you might have missed earlier in the day. Warm up a mug and keep your holidays healthy the Zonya way!

Zonya’s Healthy Hot Tottie! (a.k.a. Anytime Hunger-Pang Buster)
Fill mug half full with 1/3 less sodium chicken broth (like Swanson or any organic brand you wish)
Fill remaining half mug with low-sodium V-8 juice
Add:   1 tsp. of parmesan cheese
Dash of oregano, basil or Italian seasoning
           Dash of crushed red pepper
Stir and heat in microwave for 60-90 seconds on high. Stir again.
Pure soothing, sipping comfort—and it doesn’t even have any rum!

Give the Gift of “Healthy Eating”

Looking for the ideal gift for your friends and family this holiday season? Why not give the gift of healthy eating–for life. Instead of giving a box of fruit or a tin of nuts, give the gift of healthy recipes. Pick your favorite recipe (or recipes) from my Lickety-Split Meals cookbook, then buy the dry ingredients for each recipe and package them in a red Zonya tote with a new copy of Lickety-Split Meals!

Here are some of my favorite “gifting recipes” to get you started:
Spanish Red Beans & Rice
White Beans & Penne Pasta
Surprise Pumpkin Pie
Whole-Grain Pancakes

Get a Free Red Zonya Tote

If you order a Lickety-Split Meals cookbook before January 1, 2009, and ask for a red Zonya tote, we’ll send the tote free with your cookbook! Just type: Send Free Red Zonya Tote in the Special Instructions/Comments area of your online order at www.Zonya.com or ask for it when ordering by phone, toll free at 888-884-5326.

Important Christmas Order Notice: Priority Shipping is recommended for all orders in December if intended for Christmas. All orders expecting delivery by December 24 must be placed before December 17 and must include Priority Shipping.

Other “Gifts of Health” Ideas:

Gift Baskets from Eden Foods. My favorites are the “Organic Popcorn Basket” and “Organic Teas and Mug.” (And Michigan natives are sure to love the “Michigan Basket” highlighting products all from Michigan.)

“Pepperminty Chocolate Cupcake” recipe from Vitalicious complete with a variety of Vitalicious VitaMixes for healthy holiday muffins and brownies.

• Try going retro and gift a fitness hoola hoop! Hey, don’t laugh until you’ve tried it. My staff is addicted to their “hoola” breaks throughout the day. It energizes their brain while working their core! And it’s so fun! Here are a couple of my favorite “hoola” sites to check out. www.hoopgirl.com and www.hoopdaloop.com

• And who wouldn’t love the gift of a pain-free active lifestyle! That’s what you’ll be giving when you gift the Everyday Fitness: Movement Training Program DVD with Movement Training Specialist Sherry McLaughlin and ME.

Regardless of which gift ideas best fit your needs, make sure to order early!!

Fort Wayne Cooking Show - What a Success!

My hat’s off to Kathy Colclesser and the entire team at the Fort Wayne Newspapers. They sure know how to put on a show! Over 800 people attended and I had the pleasure of working with the best AV team around, so there was never a bad seat in the house. This “cooking presentation” is when I can really have fun. Not just TALKING about how to cook and eat healthy, but also SHOWING how! From my Scrambled Greek Omelette Florentine to Salmon Marsala, I was able to demonstrate how to truly achieve the recommended 11-13 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. And thanks to Peony Tea House, everyone got to sample the Chocolate-Mint Cheesecake (version of the Chocolate-Amaretto Cheesecake). Tasty stuff!

And thanks to Fort Wayne’s PBS station WFWA, 39-4, Hoosiers can watch Zonya’s Health Bites every Wednesday at 12 noon and Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Thanks to everyone who attended!

Come See Me LIVE!
