Establish a new year resolution ANY day of the year.
Each January 1, everyone sets their New Year’s resolutions for something they most want to change in the coming year. Unfortunately, most of these resolutions never make it into February. What if you could establish a new year’s resolution ANY time of the year and then actually maintain it for 365 days? May I suggest trying on a “two-word mantra” for the entire year? Just two words that help guide you in an area or areas that you’d like to improve. Nothing complicated, just two words. Suggestions might be: fit & efficient, positive & easygoing or nutritious & active. Resist the temptation to pick more than two words. Pick the words that can change your life the most and represent what you are ready to change the most. And then go for it! Tape the written words to your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, computer monitor and coffee cup. Perhaps program them to be the opening greeting on your cell phone, computer or PDA. Chant your mantra often and watch your “new year/all year” resolution come true!
Zonya’s Support for Your New-Year Mantra
If your new-year mantra includes the word “positive,” then make sure you check out my “Positive Eating – Frequently Asked Questions.” This overview puts a healthy perspective on carbs, fats and cholesterol-fighting tips. You’ll even find a tip or two that helps get the kids on the road to a healthy new year.
As for helping you with an “easygoing” mantra, nothing saves time more than cooking with my Lickety-Split Meals cookbook and using the pocket-sized Lickety-Split Grocery List to simplify your shopping. And to make it even easier for you, I’ve reduced the price of the Lickety-Split Grocery List to just $5.00 while supplies last.
Snack ideas that are definitely “Positive” and “Easygoing”
I want to make sure you all understand that “positive” and “easygoing” do not have to be mutually exclusive when it comes to snack foods!! We definitely love snacks at my house, and my entire family positively LOVES Eden’s dried fruit and nuts snacks and Natural Ovens’ granola bars and cookies. Eden’s Dried Blueberries are a favorite of my 6-year-old son, Ridge. The handy resealable package makes them “easygoing” as well. And talk about wrestling over the last cookie in the bag . . . when it comes to Natural Ovens Chocolate Raspberry Cookies, everyone’s a winner with these healthy whole-grain yummies. And Ridge dearly loves it when I pack his favorite Natural Ovens Chocolate Almond Great Granola Bars in his school lunch.
In addition to these nutritious and yummy snacks from Eden and Natural Ovens, may I suggest having fun with your kids in the kitchen and explore making different flavors of my Smoothies. They’re a favorite with kids of all ages, and letting them choose whether it’s a “blue” day using blueberries or a “red” day with strawberries is definitely a positive snack experience. You can even use chocolate soy milk and bananas and call your smoothie creation a “brown monkey.”
